cover art "squares ep" by hexa.cat is a microalbum uniting paintbox and square, the last one previously released in a now taken down self-released 2024 ADE Sampler. paintbox was codenamed "square 2.0", as the process of producing it felt fairly similar to square, despite both tracks having really different sound designs.

square leans into Classical House and Old School Future House, while paintbox leans more into Bass House with Future House influences. Both tracks are very experimental. paintbox can also be interpreted as a reference to Pink Floyd; and by the same case Turbix, a producer that previously made Future Bounce tracks in which the lead sounded prefectly like an electric guitar.
